7 steps to have your best day yet!
Having a good morning routine helps me start my day off on the right foot. I have found that it puts me in the right frame of mind to best take care of myself and those around me. Try creating your own routine using these seven ideas.
Take care of your mouth. This could be as simple as brushing and flossing your teeth. Great add ons could be tongue scraping and/or oil pulling with sesame or coconut oil. Do this before you eat or drink anything. These help get rid of the bacteria and metabolic waste that has been building up in your mouth all night.
Hydrate. You probably haven’t had anything to drink for at least eight hours. So, before you have your morning coffee have something to drink. This could be with plain water or you could add lemon or lime. The addition of some sea salt helps balance your electrolytes if you feel particularly tired and thirsty.
Meditate. This does not need to be long or complicated. You can get an app for a guided meditation like Recenter or Abide. Or simply set a timer for five minutes and breath in for a count of four breath out for a count of four notice when your mind wanders then bring yourself gently back to the counting.
Move. This could be simply stretching or something more vigorous like 20 squat jumps, 10 pushups, 20 sit ups or all of the above. I like to do these outside as the sun is coming up.
Journal or spend a few quiet minutes thinking or writing three or more things you are grateful for. Gratitude does many things for us it stimulates the brain to release dopamine and serotonin giving you a natural high.
Fill your mind with something positive. Read the Bible, devotional, something from an inspirational author. As the Bible says in Luke 6:45 “A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil person brings evil out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” I believe not only the mouth but also your actions. Store up for your day with something good.
Lastly take a moment and review your day ahead. Decide what needs to be done today to make this day highly successful. What are the non negotiables for the day and how to make sure those happen.
Thats it!
It may seem like a lot now but add one or two that appeal to you and see how that impacts your day. Play around with these suggestions and create your own perfect morning routine. It has made a big impact in my life and I bet it will in yours.
